Anne Janet (A.J.) Hernandez Anderson started her legal career in 2005 in Miami, Florida. She has developed a client-centered approach to litigation and advocacy that is creative, dynamic, and responsive. A.J. has applied her deep understanding of all aspects of litigation to multiple areas, including civil rights law, immigrant justice, union-side labor and employment law, commercial litigation, and pro bono coordination. She has worked at the forefront of several policy and outreach campaigns that developed into impact litigation cases addressing unconstitutional state laws and workers’ rights issues, including City of South Miami v. DeSantis.
As a former competitive rugby player, A.J. believes in strong team dynamics and brings an energetic attitude and tenacity to her work. A.J. was born in Mexico, grew up in Austin, Texas, graduated with a B.A. from Wesleyan University, and earned her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.
